Federal 

• First-time Buyer Tax Credit 

  • The Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 provides for a first-time buyer tax credit of up to $7,500 on a home purchased on or after April 9, 2008, and before July 1, 2009.

• Home Mortgage Loans
  • FirstHome: a home mortgage with below-market interest rates available to low- to moderate-income homebuyers.
  • HomeKey Program: offers very low-income borrowers an interest rate reduction on standard FirstHome loans.
  • HomeAccess Program: provides low-interest loans to disabled, elderly, veteran, and single-parent households.
  • North Dakota Roots: a homeownership incentive program targeted to new and returning North Dakotans.
  • Rural Real Estate Mortgage Program: NDHFA serves as a secondary market for Rural Housing Service residential real estate mortgages.
• Down Payment & Closing Cost assistance
  • Start Program: provides low- to moderate-income homebuyers with assistance for downpayment, closing costs and prepaids.
  • Down Payment & Closing Cost Assistance Program: designed to assist low income borrowers with downpayment and closing cost requirements.
  • Second Mortgage Programs: non-NDHFA second mortgage programs.  Homeownership assistance programs that can be used in conjunction with NDHFA loans.

• Home Buyer Assistance Programs: provide various down payment and closing cost assistance.

• Downpayment Assistance: assistance is in the form of a zero-interest deferred payment loan 
• Housing Rehab Program: offerr residents incentives to renovate houses they own or plan to purchase.
